Health and Safety

Ovato New Zealand recognises that healthy and safe working conditions and practices are vital to achieving business excellence and we are committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors and visitors throughout our businesses.

We believe excellence in OHS performance can only be achieved by management and employees communicating openly and actively working together to create a safe workplace through safe systems of work.  We expect everyone to place their safety and that of their colleagues, above any other business priority.

We maintain ACC Tertiary Accreditation across both our Christchurch and Auckland sites.

To achieve Health & Safety objectives, Ovato New Zealand will:

  • Continuously improve its OHS performance;
  • Comply with all applicable OHS laws, regulations, standards and codes of practice;
  • Hold Ovato New Zealand’s management and staff accountable for performance against measurable OHS targets and goals;
  • Identify, analyse and manage  health and safety risks in a consistent manner;
  • Involve employees and contractors through the use of regular ‘walk-round’ management inspections, tool box meetings, OHS committee meetings and other appropriate consultative mechanisms;
  • Train and hold individual employees accountable for health and safety in their area of responsibility;
  • Monitor, review and report health and safety performance in an honest and forthright manner;
  • Under-take regular management reviews and audits of the appropriateness and effectiveness of Ovato New Zealand’s standards and ‘Safe Workplace Procedures', and Benchmark, promote and communicate their health and safety commitment to their clients and community.

We work closely with our clients and suppliers to ensure positive environmental outcomes are achieved and communicated throughout the supply chain.

Ovato is fully FSC(Forest Stewardship Council) accredited.

The FSC label represents a globally-recognized certification system of tracing, verifying and labelling of raw material, wood and paper products that originate from FSC certified forests.  Ovato procure FSC paper, so that we can guarantee it comes from a sustainable forestry program.

Ovato has been continually working to reduce our impact on the environment by looking at the environmentally critical areas of our end to end operations and applying the four pillars of sustainability throughout our business:
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Replace.
